Boxer lands a powerful right hook during boxing round

Charity Fight Night, Boxing event at the iconic Grand Connaught Rooms, London

Dean Wright November 8, 2016

It was great to cover an evening of Boxing at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London. A black tie event in a grand venue full of chandlers mirror and white marble. The charity event for Ellenor Lions Hospice was organised by Habara Marketing & Events and sponsored by FS Contracting Ltd, a design & new build contractor for residential and commercial projects based out of London.

With eleven bouts scheduled the fighting went on into the late hours and it was action packed to say the least. From Junior to heavy weight it was a great show. The boxers hailed from several Boxing clubs including Nemesis ABC, Skills, Moneyfields, ST. Marys, Hockley, Bexhill and the Army.

The next fight night is scheduled for June 2017 at The Grosvenor in London. To get involved call Habara Marketing & Events on 0208 295 3399 or email Philippa.

Maserati Ghibli parked up in the City of London

Five days with the Maserati Ghibli

Dean Wright September 23, 2016

The lovely people at AMT vehicle rental gave me a Maserati Ghibli to shoot from their new Brentford operation in London and boy it was real fun.

Maserati Ghibli parked on the road to the Cotswolds

The Ghibli feels at home in the hustle and bustle of urban traffic but the real fun starts when we leave the city for the open roads. Our destination is the Cotswolds my first car shoot in this part of the country. A couple of hours drive from London and we are surrounded by lush countryside.

The Maserati is as comfortable as it is fun to drive and we could have easily drove all night long. We arrive at our destination. WOW, great find on Airbnb, wonderful Manor House in Upper Tyson on the edge of the Cotswolds, this is our base and we call home for the next 3 days.

Maserati Ghibli at sunset - Cotswolds

Up at 4am to a glorious sunset. No matter where you turn, driving around the winding roads of the Cotswolds there is always some great vista to park up in front of. The heavy rain the night before has washed a lot of clay onto the road so quite a few of trips to the car wash.

The Maserati certainly has style and is a head turner, being that little bit different from the mainstream. It certaienly looks at home in this urban sprawling environment.

A road trip to Skye in the excellent Land Rover Evoque

Dean Wright February 17, 2016

Our trip started with collecting an eye-catching Land Rover Evoque from the lovely people at AMT vehicle rental. We set off from Glasgow around lunchtime, and the aim was to catch a glorious sunset around the stunning Buachaille Etive Mor. No problem getting there in time for sunset, as it is only a short drive from Glasgow along the scenic Loch Lomond route. The issue was the weather: not surprising to get a bit of rain in Scotland, but torrential was the right word for it here. Parked up planning our next move, we were lucky that the rain finally turned into a drizzle. We grabbed our chance, and walked the short distance from the road way to fire off a few of shots. The rain then chases us back to the warm sanctuary of the Evoque.

Glencoe is a wonderful place, and we could have easily spent the entire weekend there, but that wasn't the plan. From here we figured it would be at least 3 hours to our destination, so we set off. We stopped on route to experiment with lighting effects, using an LED light stick.

The time we crossed the Skye bridge and drove North to Kilmuir the North part of Skye, it was pitch black. We had no idea of the valleys and mountains that were on every side of us. Finding our home for the weekend wasn't to much of a challenge, and we only took one wrong turn. Really great house, I love Airbnb!

We were greeted in the morning by what sounded like a hurricane. No chance of capturing a sunrise in this weather. But by 10am the weather had eased, and we made our way clockwise around the Isle to the Quiraing. This was probably my favourite place to shoot. The views on the drive up the winding road were beautiful, but nothing compared to the view from the top.

The Land Rover handled the winding, and at some point extremely narrow, roads like a dream. The All Terrain Progress Control button was a revelation, especially when descending from lofty heights, We didn’t have any need for the snow button though, which was a pity.

Again we could have spent more time here, but we knew we would be back before the end of our trip as it was really close to our base. We carried on to Sligachan Waterfalls, stopping along the way for a few photo opportunities. Skye really is like a Disneyland for Photographers.

We head South, in-fact the south most point of the Isle to Elgol to catch sunset, and it doesn’t disappoint. A torturous walk along a rocky beach in a dimming light with your arms full of kit feels miles away from the comfort of the Evoque. The tide was high and the spot looking south was rapidly looking like it would get us stranded. But we soon forget about the approaching water when we were confronted with the vista.

Day 3 back to the Quiraing, the sky was much better on that day, and we spent a lot of time on top of the mountain. We head back to base and spend the brightest part of the day indoors.

Last point of call before heading back was a weird and wonderful place called Fairy Glen, which looks like vast valley and hills on a model scale.

The Isle of Skye is certainly a beautiful place. The people are friendly and baring the howling wind at night there is a sense of calm there. A place I would certainly visit again.
